Who I am.
Henry James Underwood

I'm a web developer and AI integration specialist with freelance client work since 2025, spanning custom-coded sites, full-stack web apps, and a long-running Wix Studio rebuild for a US nonprofit. I build things that work - bilingual e-commerce, Postgres-backed registration systems, PWAs that live on your home screen - and I maintain them long after launch. I also build personal projects to learn in public and keep shipping between contracts.
The AI layer is underway: the chat assistant on this site is a RAG pipeline I built on the Gemini API and pgvector. Next is Python, then LangGraph and the Anthropic API.

Dev log.
2026 - October
// agent lab, day 00
Two weeks off, so the next build is a big one. Bill Gates once said, "I will always choose a lazy person to do a difficult job because a lazy person will find an easy way to do it." And so, here I am. Working title is Agent Lab: a small team of AI agents, built from scratch and shown live at /lab. Site Doctor checks websites every hour and flags problems early. Lead Scout is the real agent of the two, using Gemini to decide which checks each site needs before writing up what it finds. Nothing leaves the system without my approval, and every decision gets logged, so the share of drafts I accept without edits becomes a number worth improving. The /lab page will show the agents working, replay past runs step by step, and explain how it's built. Budget is $0, all free tiers. Plan, schema and safeguards are written; the build starts on day 1. Biggest lesson so far: planning the guardrails took longer than planning the features, and that feels right. Updates here as it ships.
2026 - September
// five projects, one rainy season
A workout app, a chat assistant, a bakery website, a sports academy website, and continued work on the memory care site have all been major projects this month. The chat assistant in particular went from a RAG-powered widget shipped mid-month to one hardened with real dialog semantics, live-region updates, and keyboard support by an accessibility pass near the end of it. Global Mode stalled out: rainy season in Thailand made the on-the-ground research it needs impossible right now. Leaned into marketing, SEO, site optimization, and UI/UX instead. Turns out that's the stronger fit. Biggest lesson of the month: workflows, and learning to actually use the tools well to save real time and energy.
